## The document

Offer of Employment
____ (Company name)
____ (Date of this letter)
Dear ____ (Candidate’s full name),
We are delighted to offer you a position with ____ (Company’s legal name) (the “Company”). This letter sets out the main terms. We hope you will accept, and we look forward to working with you.

Section 1: Your role
1.1 You will be employed as ____ (Job title), reporting to ____ (Manager’s name).
1.2 Your employment will start on ____ (Start date), if you accept this offer and the conditions in section 4 are met.
1.3 Your place of work is ____ (Place of work, or remote). The Company may reasonably ask you to work at other places, and, if the role is remote, to attend the office or meetings from time to time.
1.4 Your duties are those that go with the role, and any others the Company reasonably asks of you that are consistent with it. You agree to carry them out with care and in the Company’s interests.

Section 2: Pay and benefits
2.1 Your pay will be ____ (Pay, with how often), paid ____ (How often you are paid), less deductions that the law requires.
2.2 Your classification for pay purposes is ____ (Classification).
2.3 You will be eligible for the benefits the Company offers to employees in your position, on the terms of the plans that provide them. Those plans, and not this letter, set out what you are entitled to. The Company may change its plans from time to time.
2.4 You will receive ____ (Paid time off) of paid time off each year, plus public holidays, taken at times agreed with your manager.

Section 3: Hours
3.1 Your normal hours are ____ (Hours or schedule). You may be asked to work extra hours when the business needs it, and, if you are eligible for overtime, you will be paid for them as the law requires.

Section 4: Conditions of this offer
4.1 This offer depends on: proof that you are entitled to work in the United States, completed on or before your first day as the law requires; ____ (Background check); and the Company receiving satisfactory references if it has asked for them.
4.2 If any of these is not met, the Company may withdraw this offer or end your employment.

Section 5: Ending employment
5.1 Your employment is at will. This means that either you or the Company may end it at any time, with or without a reason and with or without notice, subject to the law. Nothing in this letter, and nothing said to you, changes that unless it is in a written agreement signed by an officer of the Company.
5.2 The Company asks, but does not require, that you give ____ (Notice requested) of your wish to leave, so that your work can be handed over properly.

Section 6: Confidentiality and company property
6.1 While you work for the Company and afterwards you will keep its confidential information private, use it only for its business, and return all Company property, documents and data when your employment ends.
6.2 Anything you create as part of your work for the Company belongs to the Company. You will sign any document reasonably needed to confirm that.
6.3 You confirm that you are not bound by an agreement with a previous employer that would stop you doing this role, and that you will not bring or use anyone else’s confidential information in your work for the Company.

Section 7: Policies
7.1 You will be given the Company’s handbook and policies, including those on equal opportunity, harassment, safety, data protection and acceptable use of equipment. You agree to follow them. The Company may update them, and they do not form a contract.

Section 8: The first months
8.1 The first ____ (Introductory period) are an introductory period, during which you and your manager will meet regularly to talk about how things are going. Completing it does not change the at-will nature of your employment or promise employment for any length of time.
8.2 You will receive an induction plan before your first day, which sets out who you will meet, what you will learn and the support that is available.

Section 9: Equal opportunity and a safe workplace
9.1 The Company is an equal opportunity employer. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, colour, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status or any other characteristic protected by law, and it expects the same of everyone who works for it.
9.2 If you have a concern about how you or anyone else is being treated, you may raise it with your manager, with ____ (HR contact) or with any senior person, and the Company will not retaliate against anyone who raises a concern in good faith.

Section 10: The whole agreement
10.1 This letter is the whole agreement about your employment on its subject and replaces anything said or written before. It can be changed only in a writing signed by you and an officer of the Company, except that the Company may change its policies and plans as described above. It is governed by the laws of the State of ____ (Governing law (state)).
To accept this offer, sign below by ____ (Offer open until). After that date the offer lapses unless the Company extends it in writing.
Yours sincerely,

Signed
